For more than two decades, Meghdol has been a prominent name in Bengali alternative music, blending literary influences with rock and contemporary sounds.
For Mulluk, the band explored the history and emotional depth of the traditional verses, drawing inspiration from the century-old struggles of Bangladesh’s tea artisans and the legacy of the Mulluk Cholo Andolon.
The song brings together Shibu Kumer Shill’s lyrics and composition with the voices of tea artisans Ronju Tanti and Ranjit Tanti.
Their performances create a dialogue between contemporary alternative music and the living musical traditions of Bangladesh’s tea communities.
The soundscape also incorporates dhol beats from Sreemangal, adding a strong connection to the cultural landscape from which the song originates.
