Three more children have died with suspected measles symptoms in the past 24 hours, taking the total number of deaths linked to measles-related illnesses to 925 since March 15, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deaths were reported in a press release issued by the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room of the DGHS on Thursday.
The DGHS said no deaths from confirmed measles were reported during the period. However, three children died of suspected measles, taking the number of deaths from confirmed measles to 99 and suspected measles to 826.
The health authorities also detected 68 new confirmed measles cases and 1,004 new suspected cases in the past 24 hours.
Since 15 March, the country has recorded 146,715 suspected measles cases and 18,144 confirmed cases, according to the DGHS data.
The health authorities have been monitoring the outbreak through the Health Emergency Operation Centre and Control Room and providing updates on confirmed and suspected cases regularly.
