Global shipping giant CMA CGM Group’s CNC Line has praised the Chattogram Port Authority (CPA) for its swift and coordinated operation to rescue container vessel MV CNC Uranus, which became stranded in the Chattogram Port channel following a mechanical failure.
In a Letter of Appreciation addressed to the CPA Chairman, the French shipping group lauded the port’s prompt emergency response and the dedication of officials involved in the rescue operation.
The letter, dated 4 August, was jointly signed by CMA CGM Group/CNC Line Vice President (QSSE) Moreau Xavier and Managing Director (CCISC) François-Xavier Accard, according to CPA Secretary Syed Refayet Hamim.
The company praised the immediate steps taken by the port authority, describing the response as efficient and well-coordinated under challenging circumstances.
It also acknowledged the professionalism and commitment of the CPA’s Marine Department and paid tribute to the Harbour Master, Dock Master, senior pilots and other marine personnel for their leadership during the operation.
CMA CGM expressed gratitude to the Bangladesh Navy and the Bangladesh Coast Guard for their participation and support in the salvage mission.
In its message, the shipping line said the successful rescue reflected Chattogram Port’s operational standards and emergency response capabilities. It added that the operation strengthened its confidence in the professionalism of Bangladesh’s premier seaport.
The company also expressed its desire to deepen its cooperation and partnership with the CPA and Bangladesh’s maritime sector in the years ahead.
MV CNC Uranus became stranded in the Chattogram Port channel after suffering a mechanical failure. Following an overnight joint rescue operation involving the CPA, Bangladesh Navy and Bangladesh Coast Guard, the vessel was refloated and safely anchored on 4 August, allowing normal port operations to resume.
