City Club secured promotion to the Bangladesh Football League on Monday after Dhaka Wanderers Club lost 2-1 to Shuktara Jubo Sangsad, confirming the standings with two matches remaining.
City Club lost 1-0 to BRTC Club in Gazipur, but the result did not affect their position. They have 30 points from 16 matches and remain seven points clear of Wanderers, who have 23. That gap removes any mathematical chance for Wanderers to catch them.
The promotion reflects consistent accumulation of points rather than reliance on a single result. City Club maintained a stable position in the top two places, which guarantees qualification to the top tier regardless of final-round outcomes. Their remaining matches now carry no impact on promotion status.
The same set of results also confirmed the title for Chattogram City FC. They lead the table with 39 points from 16 matches and secured the second-tier crown with matches to spare after beating Wari Club 1-0.
City Club’s promotion marks their first entry into the top tier despite their long history. The league table shows a clear separation between the top two and the chasing teams, which indicates that both promoted sides sustained higher performance levels across the season.
