Police in Chuadanga’s Alamdanga upazila seized nearly 9,000 litres of fuel during a night-time operation, arresting four people in connection with the case.
Officer-in-Charge of Alamdanga police station, Bony Israel, said the haul took place in the early hours of Monday on the Koiradanga-Khadimpur road.
Authorities intercepted a tanker lorry while its fuel was being transferred into drums. Alongside eight barrels of petrol, a tractor-trailer was also seized.
The combined quantity of petrol-octane in the tanker and barrels is estimated at around 9,000 litres.
Four individuals present at the scene were detained for their alleged involvement.
Police suspect that the fuel was brought from another district for sale at inflated prices in the local black market. Investigations are ongoing.
