‘Tiffin Box’, a new Chorki Flash Fiction release, is set to premiere around Falgun and Valentine’s Day. The short-form content will be available to stream from midnight on February 9. Written and directed by Rakayet Rabby, the film stars Rukaiya Jahan Chamak and Prantar Dastidar in the lead roles.
As the title suggests, food plays a central role in the story. According to the makers, while love stories centred on food are not new, the idea carries a deeper cultural meaning in a Bengali context. Sharing food, they say, remains one of the most primal and sincere expressions of love.
In Tiffin Box, the food container is not merely a prop but a narrative device that helps transport an ordinary life into a more dreamlike emotional space.
The theme of food extends to the characters themselves. Actor Prantar Dastidar revealed that he was required to cook for his role.
“My character loves to cook and loves to feed people. He finds joy in serving others, and love itself is a form of service. That is what defines him,” he said, adding that the rest of the character’s journey will unfold on screen.
Although Rukaiya Jahan Chamak’s character is not shown cooking in the story, the actress says the role reflects her own personality in some ways. In ‘Tiffin Box’, she plays a free-spirited, independent woman who is reluctant to entangle herself in a romantic relationship.
“She wants to live happily and does not like holding on,” Chamak said. “But there comes a point when you realise that some people, once loved, cannot be let go. I think audiences will connect with Mitu.”
Sharmin Sultana Shormi and Tuntuni Sobhan also appear in significant roles in the film. ‘Tiffin Box’ is produced by Alpha-Eye as part of Chorki’s Flash Fiction series.
So far, five flash fiction titles have been released on Chorki: ‘Khub Kacheri Kew’, ‘Ondho Balok’, ‘Gerakol’, ‘Perfect Wife’ and ‘Thursday Night’.
