Chinese President Xi Jinping greeted Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin Chuppu on the country’s 55th Independence anniversary on Thursday.
In his message, Xi described China and Bangladesh as “good neighbors, good friends and good partners.” He said the two nations have treated each other with mutual respect and equality, cooperating for mutual benefit, and setting a model for state-to-state relations.
Highlighting the importance of bilateral ties, Xi said he attaches great importance to the development of China-Bangladesh relations. He expressed his willingness to work with President Shahabuddin to deepen political mutual trust, carry forward the traditional friendship, promote high-quality Belt and Road cooperation, and expand exchanges across various sectors.
He also emphasised advancing the comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership between the two countries to ensure its steady growth.
Meanwhile, Chinese Premier Li Qiang sent a separate congratulatory message to Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the same occasion.
Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi also extended his greetings to Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman marking the anniversary.
