Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus has expressed deep sorrow at the death of M Hafiz Uddin Khan, a former adviser to the caretaker government and a distinguished civil society activist.
In a condolence message, the chief adviser paid tribute to Hafiz Uddin Khan, recalling his significant contributions to the state and public welfare with profound respect.
Yunus said, “M Hafiz Uddin Khan was an honest, wise and responsible public servant. His dedication to public service and his strong ethical stance will remain a model for us all.”
He was not only a colleague but also his classmate and close friend, Yunus said, adding, “At different stages of life, his wisdom, humanity and forthrightness enriched me. With his passing, I have lost a trusted colleague and a dear friend.”
Yunus said the integrity, commitment and competence Hafiz Uddin Khan demonstrated throughout his career, as well as his later role in promoting good governance in the country, would be remembered by the nation with respect.
Yunus prayed for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed his deep sympathy to the bereaved family members.
Hafiz Uddin passed away on Wednesday evening due to complications related to old age. He served as secretary of the Ministry of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology. In 2001, he was appointed adviser to the caretaker government, where he oversaw several key ministries, including finance and planning.
