Chhayanaut has announced a solidarity rally featuring songs in protest against what it has described as an ongoing assault on Bengali culture, following the recent attack on its cultural premises.
The programme will be held on Tuesday, December 23, at 4:00 pm in front of the Chhayanaut Shongskriti Bhaban, coinciding with Poush 8, 1432 in the Bengali calendar. Organisers said the rally will combine music and collective expression as a form of peaceful resistance against violence targeting cultural spaces and practices.
According to Chhayanaut, the initiative aims to reaffirm the role of music and culture in upholding Bengali identity and social harmony at a time of heightened uncertainty. The organisation has extended an open invitation to artists, writers, intellectuals, journalists and cultural activists, as well as members of the public who identify with progressive and inclusive values.
Chhayanaut said the gathering is intended not only as a protest but also as a statement of unity, stressing that cultural expression will continue despite attempts to intimidate or silence creative voices.
