Four firefighters and one shop employee, who were burned in a fire at a chemical godown in the BSCIC area of Tongi, Gazipur, have been admitted to the National Burn Institute. Doctors have stated that the condition of all of them is critical.
On Monday (September 22), Talha bin Jasim, an officer from the Media Cell of the Fire Service Headquarters, confirmed this information. He reported that news of the fire at a tin-shed chemical godown next to Tongi Sahara Super Market was received around 3:30pm.
Upon receiving the news, seven units from the Fire Service immediately went to extinguish the fire. They were burnt while working there when an explosion occurred.
The injured are Fire Service member Shameem Ahmed (42), Joy Hasan (28), Nurul Huda (40), and officer Khandaker Jannatul Naim (38).
Dr Shaon bin Rahman, Resident Surgeon of the Emergency Department at the National Burn Institute, informed that four individuals have been admitted to the Burn Institute. The condition of all of them is critical.
Additionally, one person has been admitted to the Burn Unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital. His name is Al-Amin Hossain (22). Doctors there have also stated that his condition is critical.
