Actress Rukaiya Jahan Chamak. celebrated her birthday in an unusual way this year. Instead of a traditional celebration, the popular small-screen star marked her 30th birthday by planting 300 mangrove trees in the Sundarbans.
The initiative aimed to promote environmental conservation and encourage sustainable living. The tree plantation programme took place in the UNESCO World Heritage site with the support of Sundari Eco Resort.
Speaking about the initiative, Chamak said, “We are all part of nature. The closer we stay to the environment, the more beautiful life becomes. After a while, the concrete surroundings of the city no longer feel appealing. The more people return from cities to nature, the more meaningful life will become.”
Highlighting the importance of the Sundarbans, she said, “The Sundarbans is one of our greatest natural treasures. It stands as a shield that protects us from natural disasters. However, for various reasons, the forest is gradually shrinking, while wildlife continues to face growing insecurity. Through this small effort, I want to encourage everyone to become more aware of protecting the environment and the Sundarbans. Reaching those who love and follow me with this message was one of my main goals.”
