Cameron Green made history at the IPL 2026 auction on Tuesday, December 16. Kolkata Knight Riders signed the Australian all rounder for a total outlay of INR 25.20 crore. This is the highest amount ever spent on an overseas player in IPL history.

The deal broke KKR’s own record. The franchise had earlier paid INR 24.75 crore for Mitchell Starc at the IPL 2024 auction. Once again, KKR set a new benchmark with an overseas signing.

Under BCCI rules, foreign players cannot receive more than INR 18 crore as their official auction fee. The remaining amount is counted as part of the overall spending structure linked to the signing.

The IPL 2026 auction features several big names. Cameron Green and Liam Livingstone headline the list. Among them, Green had drawn the most attention before the auction, and it showed during it.

Franchises are keen on a fast bowling all rounder like him. Teams see him as a player who can bowl three to four overs. He can bat in the middle order. He can also finish games with the bat. Considering his abilities, he can be a big player for the Kolkata Knight Riders this season.
