Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) maker BYD has surpassed 1,000 vehicle sales in Bangladesh, marking an early milestone as it seeks to capitalise on growing interest in electric mobility in the country.
The company marked the achievement at an event titled “Driven by 1000” in Dhaka on Saturday, BYD Bangladesh said in a statement on Monday.
BYD entered the Bangladeshi market on 3 March 2024 with the launch of its flagship electric sedan, the BYD Seal. Since then, it has expanded its portfolio with multiple NEV models across different price segments as it targets broader adoption of electric vehicles.
The company said the milestone reflects growing customer acceptance of new energy vehicles and reinforces its strategy to expand sustainable mobility solutions in Bangladesh.
BYD Bangladesh Managing Director Amid Sakif Khan said crossing the 1,000-unit mark reflected customers’ confidence in the brand since its market debut.
The company remained focused on making sustainable mobility more accessible through advanced vehicle technologies while thanking customers, dealer partners and other stakeholders for supporting its growth, he said.
BYD Bangladesh Chief Marketing Officer Imtiaz Nawsher said the company had worked to help develop Bangladesh’s electric vehicle market and viewed the sales milestone as evidence of rising momentum for sustainable mobility.
BYD would continue expanding public awareness, introducing new NEV models and strengthening the ownership experience as Bangladesh gradually transitions towards cleaner transport, he added.
The event was attended by BYD Asia-Pacific Auto Sales Division Deputy General Manager Ketsu Zhang, BYD Bangladesh Chairman Hafizur Rahman Khan, Country Manager Charles Ren, customers, dealer partners, industry representatives and members of the media.
