Bangladesh women’s national football team completed their final training session at the Alpine Sports Training Camp in Thailand on Wednesday before leaving for Goa to play in the SAFF Women’s Championship 2026.
Coach oversaw the final session, which included warm-up drills, box-to-box running and small-sided games. The squad trained at high intensity and team officials reported no injuries before departure.
Bangladesh will leave Bangkok on Thursday morning and arrive in Goa later in the evening. The team will hold its first training session in India on May 22.
The Bangladesh Football Federation arranged the 15-day overseas camp as part of the side’s preparation for the regional tournament. Bangladesh arrived in Thailand on May 7 and played two closed-door friendlies against Thai top-flight clubs during the camp.
Bangladesh beat Kasem Bundit FC 2-0 in the first friendly before facing Bangkok Women’s FC in their second match.
Butler thanked the BFF for organising the programme and admitted the camp gave the squad valuable preparation before the tournament.
“This camp is like a breath of fresh air,” Butler said.
“I’m very respectful and I’m thankful to members of the BFF who have actually moved heaven and earth and allowed us to actually have this camp.”
The English coach also praised the Alpine facility and said the experience would help the long-term development of the women’s programme.
“I think the most important thing is that I and others have laid the groundwork for future success, whether that’ll be at SAFF or Asian Cup level,” he said.
Bangladesh enter the SAFF Women’s Championship as two-time defending champions after winning the title in 2022 and 2024. They will play in Group B alongside hosts India and the Maldives.
