Aminul Islam Bulbul said he does not see why the BPL is being called a tough challenge. The Bangladesh Cricket Board president said the league has reached its 12th edition. He felt the board has enough experience to handle the tournament.
The upcoming season of the BPL will begin on December 26. The popular franchise league will open with the Sylhet phase. Many have raised concerns about the event, but the board remains confident.
Speaking to the media on Wednesday, Bulbul said, “I do not know why the BPL is being called a challenge. This is our 12th edition. Every previous edition had both positives and negatives, and we have experience from that.”
Bulbul said the board had limited time to prepare. Even so, he said efforts were made to plan the tournament properly. He added that the main aim is to deliver good cricket to fans.
“Our main goal is to provide quality cricket. This BPL can also be seen as preparation for the ICC T20 World Cup. We are not looking at it as just an event, but as a high performing environment,” he said.
Bulbul also spoke about the work going on behind the scenes. He said the governing council is active and focused. He added that board officials, staff and other stakeholders are all involved.
“Those in the governing council are working a lot. Cricket board officials and staff, along with different stakeholders, are helping us. The work is moving forward very quickly,” he said.
