The International Crimes Tribunal‑2 has issued arrest warrants for seven accused including former minister Obaidul Quader, who is also general secretary of Awami League.
The tribunal passed the order after taking cognisance of the charges in a crimes against humanity case linked to the July mass uprising.
On Thursday morning, the prosecution submitted the formal charges against the accused.
Other accused are AFM Bahauddin Nasim, joint general secretary of the Awami League (whose activities are banned); Mohammad Ali Arafat, former state minister for information; Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash, president of Jubo League; Mainul Hossain Khan Nikhil, general secretary of Jubo League; Saddam Hossain, president of the banned Chhatra League; and Sheikh Wali Asif Enan, general secretary of the banned Chhatra League.
All the accused are currently at large.
