Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI) has fined Ramna Filling Station Tk2 lakh for allegedly providing less fuel to customers through faulty dispensing units.
The regulatory body also sealed two fuel dispensing units of the petrol pump following a mobile court operation conducted on Wednesday.
The operation was carried out at Ramna Filling Station, located at 22 Bangabandhu Avenue in Dhaka. During the inspection, BSTI officials checked three fuel dispensing units at the station.
Of the units inspected, two diesel dispensers were found to be delivering less fuel than the stated quantity. One unit was found to provide 870ml less fuel per 10 litres, while another was short by 100ml per 10 litres.
Following the findings, the mobile court imposed a fine of Tk2 lakh on the filling station under the Weights and Measures Standards Act, 2018 and sealed the two faulty units.
The mobile court was led by BSTI Executive Magistrate Lutfunnessa Khanam. BSTI Inspector (Metrology) Daiyan Ishak Sharif and Field Officer (CM) Md Shahidul Alam acted as prosecutors during the operation.
