15 Bangladeshis, who were detained in India, have been handed over to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) by the Border Security Force (BSF) of India.
The handover took place on Sunday evening during a flag meeting at the Taluaigacha border in Satkhira Sadar Upazila.
Later, around 10:30pm, the BGB handed them over to Satkhira Sadar Police Station.
Shaminul Haque, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Satkhira Sadar Police Station, confirmed that after verifying their identities, the individuals will be handed over to their families on Monday.
The BSF’s Company Commander Bikash Kumar of Amudia Camp and BGB’s BOP Commander Abul Kashem of Taluaigacha Border Post facilitated the flag meeting on Sunday at 6:00pm, during which the 15 detainees were handed over.
One of the returnees, Noor Nabi Gazi, shared that he and his family had been working as laborers in an Indian city for three years. He mentioned that the Indian government had announced the return of Bangladeshis, prompting them to surrender to the BSF camp at Amudia on Saturday night.
Earlier, on September 15 and 18, 23 other Bangladeshis were returned through the same border after flag meetings with the BSF.
