The two-day BRAC University Career Fair 2025 concluded on Thursday on the university’s Merul Badda campus, bringing together more than 60 leading employers and resulting in several internship placements and on-the-spot job offers.
According to a press release, City Bank PLC, Banglalink, Bangladesh Steel Re-Rolling Mills, Apex, BRAC Bank, BRAC, Chevron, bKash, Berger, ACI and Square were among the companies that took part in the fair organised by the Office of Career Services and Alumni Relations.
The fair offered graduates the opportunity to meet industry representatives, explore employment prospects and expand their professional networks.
“We teach our students everything, from sweeping floors to becoming executives in top firms,” said BRAC University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar at the inauguration. He said the curriculum prepares students not only for careers but also to contribute to the world, adding that honesty is difficult yet rewarding in the long term.
He said the university emphasises social innovation with BRAC, alignment with the Sustainable Development Goals and collaboration with industries to advance environmental, social and governance principles.
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury said BRAC University maintains a student-friendly environment with student welfare as its core objective. He said the university is working to make internships mandatory across all programmes and to design curriculums better aligned with industry requirements.
“Your first job may not be your dream job. But to build a good career, you need discipline, patience and the courage to step out of your comfort zone,” said City Bank PLC Head of Human Resources Nishat Anwar.
“To succeed, you must believe in yourself and build yourself as a brand,” she said.
Registrar Dr David Dowland and Joint Director of Student Life Tahsina Rahman also addressed the inauguration ceremony, while Treasurer Ariful Islam, Professor Mohammad Mujibul Haque, Professor Md Golam Samdani Fakir and Office of Communications Director Khairul Basher were present.
In a separate session titled “Spotlight by City Bank,” Md Arup Haider, deputy managing director and head of Retail Banking at City Bank PLC, discussed career opportunities in banking. He said career choices should align with personal goals and dreams, noting that the sector demands strong communication skills, responsibility, transparency and respect for others.
