BRAC Bank has received the Remittance Award for the second consecutive year from the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment, recognising its role in facilitating inward remittances to Bangladesh.
The bank said in a press release that the government recognition reflects its commitment to strengthening the economy by simplifying remittance processes through digital solutions for wage earners worldwide.
Adviser Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment and Ministry of Law and Justice Asif Nazrul handed over the award to BRAC Bank Head of Remittance and Probashi Banking Shahrear Zamil at a ceremony marking International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day 2025 in Dhaka on December 18, 2025.
As a leading bank in inward remittances, BRAC Bank recorded wage remittances of more than $2.1 billion in 2025, a milestone that underscores its contribution to the country’s foreign exchange reserves and financial stability.
The Remittance Award recognises the bank’s role in supporting economic growth, alleviating poverty and promoting social development by channelling international remittances through formal banking channels.
BRAC Bank said it aims to enhance Bangladesh’s image globally by encouraging the Bangladeshi diaspora to increase investment in the country and use formal remittance channels.
The recognition also reflects the bank’s contribution to the national exchequer and its role as a catalyst for Bangladesh’s economic prosperity.
