Bangladesh Cricket Board plunged the BPL into deeper uncertainty on Thursday night after officials confirmed talks over an indefinite suspension, cancelled another match, and called an emergency meeting in Gulshan.
A senior BPL Governing Council official, speaking on condition of anonymity, said the board had started internal discussions to pause the remainder of the tournament indefinitely. The BCB responded by calling a late-night emergency meeting at 8:30pm at Navana Tower in Gulshan.
The silence from the board only sharpened the tension. Players, franchises and broadcasters still wait for clear direction as the competition drifts.
A member of the BPL Technical Committee confirmed the immediate damage. “The second match of the day has also been cancelled. We have not yet received any official directive, and there is no certainty yet whether tomorrow’s two matches will take place,” he said.
That admission says plenty. The league currently runs on uncertainty rather than authority, and every cancelled match chips away at credibility.
The BCB now faces a simple choice. It can draw a firm line, communicate clearly, and stabilise the tournament, or let confusion do more damage than any protest ever could.
