The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has uncovered a clandestine bomb manufacturing facility in Mohammadpur’s Geneva Camp. During a raid on Friday evening, Law enforcers seized 35 ready-to-use crude bombs and bomb-making Equipment.

Acting on tip off, a team from Mohammadpur Police Station conducted the operation around 6:10pm at a deserted house in Sector 7 of Geneva Camp. The police recovered 35 fresh crude bombs and a significant quantity of bomb-making materials from the location.

The raid followed information obtained from three bomb-makers arrested on Thursday. Mohammadpur Zone Assistant Commissioner Abdullah Al Mamun, who led the operation, confirmed the recovery.

Initial investigations reveal that the factory had been operating covertly within the residential area.

DMP sources indicated that the Awami League, whose activities are banned, was manufacturing these explosives centering their 17 November lockdown programme. The bombs were reportedly intended for distribution to various locations across the capital.

Following the discovery, the DMP’s Bomb Disposal Unit was immediately notified and quickly arrived at the scene to begin neutralizing the seized explosives. Forensic teams are examining the seized materials.

Mohammadpur Police Station sources confirmed that legal procedures are currently underway regarding the incident. Assistant Commissioner Mamun stated that the operation remains ongoing and further details will be disclosed subsequently.
