Police have arrested Obaidul Hasan Bobby, the general secretary of Bogura city Awami League, from Dhaka’s Gulshan area late Friday night. The arrest was confirmed by Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) of Bogura, Ataur Rahman.
According to Iqbal Bahar, officer-in-charge of the district’s Detective Branch (DB), the arrest was made based on a tip-off. “A team of Bogura DB police conducted a raid in Gulshan and detained Obaidul Hasan Bobby. He is accused in 12 cases linked to the student and public anti-discrimination movement,” he said.
Bobby, a resident of Jaleswaritola in Bogura, had been absconding in Dhaka for a long time, the DB official added. He will be produced before the court after completing necessary legal formalities.
