The Election Commission (EC) will hold elections for two parliamentary constituencies-Bogura-6 and Sherpur-3-after Eid-ul-Fitr.

Election Commissioner Abdur Rahmanel Masud told reporters on Wednesday, “We will not hold any election during Ramadan. The elections for the vacant seats will be conducted soon after Eid-ul-Fitr.”

The Bogura-6 seat is set for a by-election after BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman, who won both Bogura-6 and Dhaka-17 in the 12 February general election, opted to retain the Dhaka-17 seat.

On the other hand, the Sherpur-3 seat will see a fresh election, as the polling originally scheduled there was postponed following the death of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Nuruzzaman Badal.
