Bob Dylan has surprised fans by launching a Patreon page titled ‘Lectures From the Grave’, offering exclusive content for $5 a month.
Announced via an Instagram story on March 29, the page currently features six posts, including a video of Mahalia Jackson, audio essays narrated by an AI voice on figures such as Aaron Burr, Frank James and Wild Bill, and fictional pieces like a Mark Twain letter to silent film actor Rudolph Valentino.
Another post, Bull Rider, tells the story of a man attempting bull riding in Texas, blending vivid storytelling with folk-inspired imagery. Many fans have been intrigued and baffled by the use of AI in some posts.
The move comes as Dylan continues his Rough And Rowdy Ways tour, which runs from 30 March in Waukegan to May 1 in Abilene. He has also recently paid tribute to Shane MacGowan in Dublin and performed a traditional folk ballad live for the first time in 34 years.
Dylan has reportedly been working on new music with members of his band in Albany, New York, and has contributed to Willie Nelson’s forthcoming album ‘Dream Chaser’, set for release in May.
Fans are describing Dylan’s Patreon as characteristically unpredictable, cementing his reputation as one of music’s most enigmatic figures.
