A group of angry BNP activists gathered in front of the residence of Rashed Pradhan, spokesperson for the Jatiya Ganotantrik Party (JAGPA), on Iqbal Road in Mohammadpur on Friday, protesting his controversial remarks about BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman.

The protesters, including members of the Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal, affiliate organisations of BNP, threw shoes at Pradhan’s house and chanted slogans demanding his trial.

The incident, which occurred in the afternoon, sparked a strong backlash from BNP supporters.

The situation became tense when Pradhan’s Personal Assistant (PA) Jonny Nandy allegedly incited further provocation, leading to his detention by Mohammadpur police.

Tejgaon Division’s Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Jewel Rana confirmed that Nandy was taken into custody to calm the situation and was later questioned at the Mohammadpur police station.

In response to the escalating unrest, additional police forces were deployed in the area to maintain order.
