The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has appointed Humayun Kabir, adviser to acting chairman Tarique Rahman, as one of its joint secretaries general for international affairs.
A press release issued by the party on Wednesday confirmed the appointment, noting that Kabir will oversee international affairs within the BNP’s central leadership structure.
The latest appointment completes the lineup of the party’s joint secretaries general, which had a vacant post since the last major reshuffle on 15 June, 2024.
At that time, several joint secretaries general – including Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon, Mojibur Rahman Sarwar, Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal and Lion Aslam Chowdhury – were promoted to the Chairperson’s Advisory Council.
On the same day, the BNP named its organising secretaries Advocate Abdus Salam Azad and Syed Emran Saleh Prince, along with publicity affairs secretary Shahiduddin Chowdhury Anee, as joint secretaries general.
With Humayun Kabir’s inclusion, the BNP’s central committee now has all joint secretary general positions filled, marking the completion of the party’s mid-level leadership structure under the direction of Tarique Rahman.
