Joint forces arrested two local leaders of BNP and its youth wing, Jubo Dal in Shalikha Upazila, Magura on Friday.
During the raid, a pistol, three rounds of live ammunition, two machetes, a cleaver, a combat knife with a sheath, and a folding knife were recovered.
The arrestees were identified as Moniruzzaman Chocolate Munshi, 50, member secretary of Shalikha Upazila BNP, and Nayanuzzaman Nayan Munshi, 40, member secretary of Upazila Jubo Dal.
Both individuals are the sons of the late Munshi Shahidur Rahman and residents of Arpara village in the upazila.
Abu Sayeed, officer-in-charge (OC) of Shalikha Police Station, stated that the operation was conducted based on secret information around 5:30am.
The suspects were apprehended from their respective residences around 6am and subsequently taken to the police station. Two smartphones belonging to the arrested leaders were seized.
The OC confirmed that the process of filing a case under the Arms Act and other necessary legal actions are currently underway.
