Two activists from Jamaat-e-Islami and BNP have died on Monday after falling ill while participating in separate election rallies in Lakshmipur-3 constituency.

Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital Residential Medical Officer (RMO) Dr Arup Paul confirmed the matter. The deceased have been identified as Abdus Sahid, a Jamaat-e-Islami activist, and Obaidul Haque, a BNP activist.

According to witnesses, Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Rezaul Karim and BNP candidate Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Anee held separate election rallies.

Abdus Sahid suddenly fell ill while on his way to join the rally and Obaidul Haque fell ill while participating in the rally and was rushed to the hospital. The attending doctor declared them both dead.

RMO Dr Arup Paul stated, “They had died before reaching the hospital. It has been initially confirmed that they died of heart attacks.”
