bKash customers can now make payments by tapping their phones on a QR code enabled with Near Field Communication (NFC) as the mobile financial service provider pushed for a faster and more secure contactless option within the country’s digital payment landscape.
In a press release on Thursday, bKash said the NFC feature allows customers to complete transactions within seconds, including payments up to Tk 1,000 without entering a personal identification number (PIN). The company said the service is designed to enhance convenience and reduce friction in everyday cashless transactions.
bKash said customers can pay by tapping their phones on an NFC-marked QR code, after which they are taken directly to the payment screen upon logging in. They enter the amount and confirm the transaction, removing the inconvenience of repeated PIN input and reducing risks arising from compromised credentials.
According to the company, NFC technology will make payments significantly faster at shops, supermarkets, cafés and other retail outlets, benefiting both customers and merchants.
bKash said it continues to expand customer-focused digital services by leveraging new technologies. The NFC tap-to-pay feature will be rolled out gradually across merchant points nationwide.
