bKash held a two-day seminar to strengthen the skills of employees engaged in Anti Money Laundering and Combating the Financing of Terrorism compliance functions, focusing on financial crime risks in the digital space.
The half-yearly seminar, titled “Strengthening AML&CFT Frameworks in Cyber Space”, focused on reinforcing compliance to combat money laundering and terrorist financing amid growing digitalisation.
Sessions covered combating financial crimes in cyberspace in line with the Cyber Security Ordinance 2025, anticipated socio-political risks, integrated service models, enhanced monitoring and evolving regulatory reporting requirements.
The programme also reviewed current compliance challenges, new products and services and developments implemented during the year, while setting organisational and compliance priorities for the coming year.
Major General Sheikh Md Monirul Islam retd, Chief External and Corporate Affairs Officer and Chief Anti-Money Laundering and Compliance Officer of bKash, and other senior officials attended the seminar held in Dhaka on 14 and 15 December 2025.
Officials from the bKash AML and CFT department in Dhaka and regional offices, along with representatives from other departments, took part in the sessions.
Following Bangladesh Bank directives, bKash has deployed compliance teams across regions and conducts regular awareness programmes for agents, merchants, distributors and customers to prevent money laundering and terrorist financing.
The company said it uses its customised AML 360 Financial Crime Investigation Solution and Screening Intelligence System to identify suspicious transactions and take action.
