bKash has partnered with Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) to promote technology skills and innovation among university students, as Bangladesh’s fintech sector looks to expand the pipeline of future digital talent.
The company said in a statement on Sunday that it supported the two-day CSE Carnival 2026, organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at SUST, featuring inter-university programming and hackathon competitions.
The event brought together 120 teams from 80 public and private universities for the programming contest, while 50 teams participated in the hackathon, presenting technology-based solutions to practical challenges.
Beyond competitions, the carnival featured discussions on fintech, artificial intelligence, digital finance, innovation and future career opportunities. Academics, technology experts and senior engineers from bKash’s product and technology division shared industry insights with participants.
In the programming contest, Silver Hawks from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) won the championship, while Supernova from BUET and Jyotichashi from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology (RUET) secured the first and second runner-up positions.
In the hackathon, Team GNG from SUST emerged as champion, followed by Nexus from BUET and Arekta Team, comprising students from three universities, as first and second runners-up.
University Grants Commission Member Professor Abdullah Al Mamun distributed prizes at the closing ceremony. The event was attended by SUST Vice-Chancellor Professor Md Khairul Islam, bKash Chief Product and Technology Officer Azmal Huda, BRAC University professor Mohammad Kaykobad, SUST CSE Department Head Dr Md Forhad Rabbi and representatives from academia and the technology sector.
bKash said the initiative is part of its broader effort to support technology education and develop industry-ready talent. The fintech company also runs year-round programmes including bTechWhiz, bnext and bHive to support young professionals preparing for careers in technology and digital services.
