Border Guard Bangladesh will deploy 21 platoons across Bandarban to maintain security during the 13th Jatiya Sangsad election.
The deployment plan was announced on Tuesday morning at a press briefing at Bandarban Government College by BGB Bandarban Sector Commander Muhammad Rubayat Jamil.
He said BGB personnel would operate from 22 base camps in seven upazilas to maintain law and order and ensure voter safety.
He added that security has been tightened in border areas to prevent smuggling, illegal infiltration and militant activities, with mobile and static forces, reserve units, dog squads, drone surveillance and quick response teams kept on standby.
Expressing optimism, the sector commander said a peaceful and credible election would be held in the district.
Those present at the briefing included Balipara Battalion Commander Md Yasir Arafat Hossain, Deputy Commander of Balipara Battalion Md Imam ul Azim, other senior BGB officials and journalists from print and electronic media.
