The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has thwarted an attempt by Indian Border Security Force (BSF) to push five individuals into Bangladesh through Dhola border in Gangni Upazila of Meherpur.
Due to the active vigilance of BGB members, the entry was successfully prevented, and the individuals currently remain on the Indian side of barbed-wire fence.
According to BGB sources, the incident occurred at dawn on Friday near international boundary pillar 135/4-S on Dhola border.
The BGB personnel immediately intercepted them at the entrance of the border and directed them to return to Indian territory.
The group of five individuals subjected to the push-in attempt comprised four men and one woman.
Rashed Kamal Roni, commander of 47 BGB Battalion, confirmed that BSF had attempted to push the five people into Bangladesh in the early hours of the morning. Upon immediately noticing the matter, the BGB prevented their entry and sent them back to Indian territory.
He added that BSF later took the individuals back into their own custody.
The battalion commander said BGB would not tolerate any form of illegal push-in along the border, emphasising that the personnel remain on high alert in border areas to prevent such occurrences.
