Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has established a new Border Outpost (BOP) at Naba Adatala in Sapahar upazila of Naogaon to strengthen border security.
Brigadier General ASM Naser, commander of BGB’s North West Rangpur Region, inaugurated the outpost on Thursday morning.
BGB Rajshahi Sector Commander Colonel Syed Kamal Hossain and 16 BGB Naogaon Battalion Commander Lieutenant Colonel Ariful Islam Masum were also present at the inauguration.
Speaking to journalists after the ceremony, Brig Gen Naser said BGB was working tirelessly to maintain border security and serve as a symbol of confidence.
He said 16 BGB, under the North West Rangpur Region, was guarding around 115 kilometres of the border in the country’s north-western region.
He expressed hope that collective efforts, supported by the newly established Naba Adatala BOP, would help ensure border security and maintain peaceful coexistence in border areas.
He said BGB remained firmly committed to protecting the country’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
Through strict border surveillance, efforts to prevent illegal entry, flag meetings, necessary diplomatic communication and enforcement of existing laws and regulations, the force was working relentlessly to safeguard national security, he added.
The new outpost is expected to help combat border crimes, including smuggling, drug trafficking, human trafficking, push-ins and illegal entry, he said.
