Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has seized a large consignment of Indian medicines valued at over Tk53 lakh during a special operation in the Taltala area bordering Jorarganj under Mirsarai Upazila, Chattogram.
The Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) conducted the operation on Sunday evening based on secret information, according to a press release.
A patrol team led by Habildar Delwar Hossain of the Choto Faringa BOP recovered the medicines abandoned without any owner from the Taltala area.
The seized items include 30,720 pieces of Senegra tablets, 10 pieces of Freestyle Libre 2 Plus (CGM), 120 pieces of Mycophenolate Sodium tablets, 7,200 pieces of My Rose tablets, 5,790 pieces of Follisim tablets, and 5,338 pieces of various other medicines.
The total confiscated value of the haul is estimated at Tk53,27,114, the BGB statement said.
The seized Indian medicines are in the process of being handed over to the Sitakundu Customs authorities following due legal procedures.
Commenting on the seizure, Commander of Ramgarh Battalion Lt Col Ahsan Ul Islam said that BGB remains constantly vigilant to prevent smuggling along the border areas.
“Such operations will continue in the future,” he added.
