The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) continues to serve as the nation’s vigilant guardian of border, ensuring the country’s geographical integrity and sovereignty while preventing smuggling, drug trafficking, and human trafficking, said Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus.
In a message issued on Friday on the occasion of Border Guard Bangladesh Day 2025, Yunus praised the force for its pivotal role in maintaining law and order, as well as safeguarding lives and property during natural disasters and other emergency situations.
Highlighting the force’s professionalism, he noted that following the July mass uprising, the BGB has been instrumental in protecting the country’s borders, managing tensions, and preventing illegal incursions.
Congratulating all members of the force, the chief adviser described the BGB as the inheritor of a long and proud legacy in the region.
He also recalled the BGB’s historic contributions during the 1971 Liberation War, including two recipients of the Bir Sreshtho, 119 gallantry awardees, and the ultimate sacrifice of 817 martyrs, which have enriched the force’s legacy.
Muhammad Yunus prayed for the peace of the souls of BGB personnel who have devoted themselves to the country’s welfare since independence and wished success for all programmes organised to mark BGB Day 2025.
