Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained an Indian national who illegally entered Bangladesh from the Bhujpur border area in Fatikchhari upazila, Chattogram, officials said on Monday.
The detained individual was identified as Putan Molla, 19, son of Badal Molla from Ramendranagar village under Sabrum Police Station in South Tripura, India.
A patrol team from the Andharmanik BOP under Ramgarh Battalion (43 BGB) detained the Indian national around 1:30pm on Monday from the northern Andharmanik border area with the assistance of local people.
Preparations are underway to file a case against the detained individual under relevant laws, and the process of handing him over to Bhujpur Police Station for necessary legal action is ongoing, the BGB said.
The BGB reiterated its firm commitment to ensuring border security, protecting sovereignty, preventing illegal infiltration, and combating cross-border crimes. The force also acknowledged the vital role of border-area residents’ awareness and cooperation in such operations.
