American fashion model Bella Hadid has criticised Israeli far-right minister Itamar Ben Gvir after footage emerged showing him taunting activists from the Gaza-bound Global Sumud Flotilla while they were being detained by Israeli authorities.
Hadid shared a strongly worded statement on Instagram in response to the incident, writing: “You are a nasty, nasty human being with a nasty, nasty heart. To laugh at pain is a disgrace.”
The comments came after activists involved with the Global Sumud Flotilla were reportedly subjected to abuse while being held by Israeli authorities. Video footage circulating online allegedly showed Ben Gvir mocking members of the group during their detention.
Hadid, who has frequently spoken publicly about Palestinian issues and humanitarian concerns in Gaza, used her platform to condemn the minister’s behaviour and express solidarity with the activists.
The exchange has since drawn widespread attention on social media, with supporters and critics reacting to Hadid’s remarks and the footage involving Ben Gvir.
