Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) President Aminul Islam Bulbul has announced the organisation of the first-ever Bangladesh Cricket Conference to bring together cricket stakeholders from across the country. The event will take place in Dhaka on 9 and 10 November, Bulbul said in a video message released by the BCB.
Since taking charge as BCB president, Bulbul has launched several initiatives aimed at decentralising cricket development in Bangladesh, which he has collectively named “Triple Century”. Under this initiative, he has personally visited districts across the country and announced plans to establish BCB offices in various regions. He also stated earlier that each district’s BCB councillor would serve as the local head of cricket.
In his video message, Bulbul explained that the Bangladesh Cricket Conference is intended to bring together everyone involved in the game. “Cricket is spread across 64 districts and eight divisions in Bangladesh. We want to know about everyone involved, understand the needs of Bangladesh cricket, and explore how the BCB can help. We aim to unite district cricket presidents, sports officers, coaches, and women entrepreneurs under one roof to discuss how we can collectively take Bangladesh cricket forward,” he said.
Bulbul added that the purpose of the conference is to strengthen cooperation and communication among all levels of cricket organisers. “At the end of the day, we all play cricket in Bangladesh and enjoy the game together. I hope the conference will be successful and will make our cricket more prosperous. It will help us know one another better and start a new journey for Bangladesh cricket,” he said.
He also noted that cricket administration in Bangladesh has long been Dhaka-centric, with most activities based around Mirpur. The new initiative aims to promote and develop cricket in other districts and upazilas across the country. “To understand the goals and vision of Bangladesh cricket, we must first know what is happening in the districts and upazilas. By listening to them, we can identify the gaps and fill them with BCB support. This will help us build stronger relationships and move the game forward,” Bulbul said.
Aminul Islam Bulbul, who initially served as acting BCB president for four months, was recently elected to continue in the role for a full four-year term.
