The Bangladesh Cricket Board on Friday rejected what it described as false and fabricated claims on social media alleging that its president, Md Aminul Islam, is under investigation by the board’s Integrity Unit.
In a statement issued in Dhaka on January 30, the BCB said the allegations, which named the Independent Chair of the Integrity Unit Alex Marshall, were “entirely unfounded”. The board added that Marshall had personally denied the claims and confirmed in writing that no such inquiry exists.
“The BCB President being under investigation by me. This is a completely untrue and fabricated allegation,” Marshall said, according to the statement.
The BCB said the spread of the claims was a serious concern and appeared to be a deliberate attempt to damage the reputation of the president and undermine the integrity of both the board and Bangladesh cricket.
In response, the board has begun legal action against those responsible for circulating the information. This includes the filing of a General Diary, numbered 3867 and dated January 30, 2026, with Mirpur Police Station under the Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
The BCB said it would maintain a firm stance against defamation and pursue strict action against any individual or platform involved in what it described as malicious activity targeting the board, its officials or its players.
The statement also urged the public and the media to avoid sharing unverified information and to rely on official sources for accurate updates.
