The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Wednesday confirmed that the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2025 auction, originally scheduled for November 17 and later postponed to November 21, will now take place on November 23.
The auction will see the five franchises compete to sign both domestic and foreign players at a five-star hotel in Dhaka.
The delay in the auction may also push back the tournament by about a week, with the BPL now expected to start after the originally planned date of December 19.
In the first two editions of the BPL (2012 and 2013), players were selected via auction. From 2015, the league switched to a draft system, which remained in place until the last season. To accommodate franchise requests, the upcoming edition will return to the auction format, the BCB confirmed.
The council has also finalized the five franchise owners for the next season, based on financial transparency and other criteria.
