Bangladesh Bank has organised a capacity-building workshop on CMSME Financing Policy in Nilphamari, aiming to strengthen structured, inclusive and sustainable financing across the banking sector.
The workshop was held at a community centre in Nilphamari Sadar on February 16 and brought together representatives from 33 banks operating in the district.
The central bank said the initiative reflects its continued focus on improving institutional readiness and professional standards in supporting cottage, micro, small and medium enterprises CMSME.
BRAC Bank joined the programme as the Lead Bank, highlighting its role in SME banking and policy-aligned financial inclusion at the grassroots level.
Bangladesh Bank Rangpur Office Executive Director Md Ali Mahmud attended the session as Chief Guest while Bangladesh Bank Rangpur Office Director Md Emdadul Hoque joined as Special Guest. BRAC Bank Head of Cottage, Micro and Small Business Ariful Islam presided over the session.
The workshop addressed key components of CMSME Financing Policy implementation, including regulatory compliance, structured financing models, risk management standards and the strategic role of financial institutions in promoting sustainable entrepreneurship.
Participants took part in interactive knowledge-sharing sessions designed to strengthen institutional capacity and improve the delivery of financing support to emerging entrepreneurs.
Bangladesh Bank officials highlighted the CMSME sector’s role in economic growth, employment generation and regional development, stressing the need for coordinated efforts, sound governance and policy compliance across financial institutions to build a resilient and inclusive economic system.
BRAC Bank said it remains committed to supporting national initiatives aimed at expanding access to finance, strengthening institutional capacity and accelerating inclusive economic progress across the country.
