Bakhtiar Hossain, the lead vocalist of Bangladeshi psychedelic rock band Bay of Bengal, has announced his departure from the group, bringing a 15 year musical partnership to a close. His final performance with the band will take place on the 20th in Chattogram.
The announcement came through an emotional post on Bakhtiar’s official Facebook page, where he described the upcoming show as his last moment on stage with Bay of Bengal. He said the farewell felt especially meaningful as it would unfold in Chattogram, the city where he wrote his first song and began dreaming of a life as an artiste.
Reflecting on his long journey with the band, Bakhtiar referred to Bay of Bengal as his constant companion over the past decade and a half. He expressed deep gratitude for the experiences and the affection he received from listeners, noting that the memories would remain with him for life. He also wished the band continued success and hoped their music would reach even wider audiences in the future.
Bay of Bengal is known for its distinctive blend of psychedelic rock with progressive and experimental influences. The band has released four full length albums: ‘Nirob Durvikkho’ (2016), ‘Ghum’ (2017), Jochhona Snan (2019) and Bishonnotar Gaan (2020).
