The pass rate in Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations under Barisal Education Board has risen to 60.35 per cent this year.
A total of 2,778 students secured the highest grade of GPA-5. While the pass rate has improved compared to last year, the overall count of GPA-5 achievers has dropped.
The board’s Secretary Professor Md Abdus Salam officially announced the results statistics around 10am on Monday.
According to the official data released by the board, a total of 80,458 students appeared for SSC examinations under Barisal Education Board this year. Among the candidates, 37,545 were boys and 42,913 were girls.
A total of 48,555 examinees successfully passed the examinations, which included 19,955 boys and 28,600 girls. The results indicate that female students have once again outperformed their male counterparts.
An analysis of the results shows that, as in previous years, girls outperformed boys in both the pass rate and in securing GPA-5.
Among the six districts under Barisal Education Board, Pirojpur district secured the top position in terms of pass rate.
Last year, the pass rate under Barisal Education Board stood at 56.38 per cent. This year’s performance represents an increase of approximately 3.97 percentage points.
