Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC) newly elected Executive Committee, led by BAPLC President Riad Mahmud, paid a courtesy call on Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) Chairman Khondoker Rashed Maqsood at Securities Exchange Bhaban in Agargaon recently.
The meeting was attended by BSEC Commissioners Md Mohsin Chowdhury, Md Ali Akbar, Farzana Lalarukh and Md Saifuddin, according to BAPLC.
During the interaction, both sides exchanged greetings and discussed a number of regulatory issues that require modification, amendment and relaxation in the greater interest of listed companies to enhance ease of doing business and to further strengthen the country’s capital market, participants said.
The discussion also covered various aspects of the capital market alongside broader issues related to the national economy, meeting sources added.
BAPLC President Riad Mahmud expressed the association’s strong willingness to work closely with the Commission and affirmed BAPLC’s readiness to extend all necessary support for the sustainable development of the capital market, officials familiar with the meeting said.
The Commission, in turn, sought full cooperation from BAPLC in advancing initiatives aimed at ensuring growth and stability of the capital market, the sources said.
Members of the BAPLC delegation included Executive Committee Members Humayun Rashid, Imam Shaheen, Mohammad Shamsul Islam, Monirul Islam Akhand, Sharif Shah Jamal Raj, Hasan Tarek, Md Zahedul Islam, Zeyad Rahman, Sharif Hasan and Uzzal Kumar Saha, along with BAPLC Secretary General Md Amzad Hossain.
