Bangladesh’s women’s volleyball team finished third at the CAVA Cup in the Maldives after a convincing straight-sets victory over Afghanistan in the third-place playoff.
The match, played in Male on 25 December 2025, saw Bangladesh dominate their opponents to secure a 3–0 win. They controlled proceedings from the start, taking the opening two sets 25–20 before closing out the contest 25–15 in the third.
The result allowed Bangladesh to end the tournament on a positive note after a difficult campaign in the earlier stages. The four-nation competition featured hosts Maldives alongside Kyrgyzstan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh, with the Bangladeshi side struggling for consistency during the round-robin phase.
Bangladesh lost all three group matches, going down in straight sets to Maldives and Kyrgyzstan before suffering a four-set defeat to Afghanistan. They were then beaten comprehensively by hosts Maldives in the semi-finals, which set up the bronze-medal match.
The third-place finish comes a couple of months after Bangladesh hosted the Central Asia Cup in Dhaka, where they reached the final. While the Maldives tournament proved more challenging, the team’s strong finish ensured they returned home with a medal to show for their efforts.
