The Embassy of Bangladesh in Ankara hosted a high-level strategic consultative session Wednesday titled “Strengthening Bangladesh–Türkiye Defence Cooperation” to explore enhanced pathways for bilateral security collaboration.
According to the press release, the session was chaired by Ambassador of Bangladesh to Türkiye M Amanul Haq and anchored by Defence Attaché Brigadier General Iftequt Rahman.
The interactive discussion featured two distinguished experts, Professor Hasan Ünal of Başkent University and Dr Ahmed Doğan, CEO of Sigma International and Founder of the Diplomatic Club Ankara.
The session explored strategic pathways for enhancing cooperation, including capacity building for security and defence, strengthening bilateral collaboration, fostering public-private partnerships, and promoting private sector engagement in defence industries.
Participants also discussed the importance of harnessing the talents of young engineers, researchers, and innovators.
During the session, the experts shared valuable insights into Türkiye’s remarkable journey in developing a strong and self-reliant defence industry.
They highlighted the significance of long-term strategic planning, investment in human capital, technology development, international collaboration, reverse engineering, and indigenous innovation.
The programme also featured a dedicated discussion on a research questionnaire prepared by participants from the National Defence Course (NDC), Bangladesh. These participants are currently conducting research on Bangladesh–Türkiye defence cooperation strategies.
The exchange of ideas with the experts is expected to play a pivotal role in their research findings by providing expert insights and practical recommendations.
According to the Embassy, the recommendations offered during the session are expected to contribute to the formulation of more effective strategies for enhancing bilateral cooperation and strengthening Bangladesh’s overall defence and security capacity.
The Embassy of Bangladesh reaffirmed its commitment to promoting closer cooperation in defence, security, technology, research, and institutional capacity building through continued dialogue and knowledge exchange.
