Bangladesh and Saudi Arabia have reached a consensus to strengthen services and cooperation on Hajj and Umrah matters, a development expected to bring new momentum to pilgrimage services for Bangladeshis.
The agreement came during a bilateral meeting between Saudi Hajj and Umrah Minister Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al Rabiah and Bangladesh’s Minister of Religious Affairs Kazi Shah Mofazzal Hossain (Kaikobad) on Monday at the King Salman International Convention Centre in Madinah.
Bangladesh’s Religious Minister highlighted the remarkable progress Saudi Arabia has achieved in Hajj and Umrah management under the leadership of King Salman bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. He noted the successful integration of technology and modernisation in Hajj management and extended sincere thanks from Bangladesh to the Saudi government.
Recalling the historical brotherly relations between the two countries, Kaikobad said the relationship is bound by mutual trust and common religious bonds.
“Under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the existing relationship will reach new heights, and cooperation in religious and mutual development sectors, including Hajj and Umrah, will be further strengthened,” the minister expressed hope.
During the meeting, Kaikobad handed over a written proposal to the Saudi Hajj and Umrah minister for the welfare of Bangladeshi pilgrims.
He also presented a courtesy gift from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Saudi minister, who in turn presented a souvenir to the Bangladesh minister.
The meeting was attended by Religious Secretary Munshi Alauddin Al Azad, Bangladesh Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Saudi Hajj Ministry Deputy Minister Dr. Al Hassan Yahya Al Mankhara, Additional Secretary of the Hajj Subdivision Md Ayatul Islam, Consul General in Jeddah Md. Sakhawat Hossain, Counsellor (Hajj) Md. Kamrul Islam, and other senior officials.
The religious minister is currently in Saudi Arabia to attend the Third Umrah and Visit Forum.
