Bangladesh built on their dominant morning to finish their first innings on 476 in the second Test against Ireland in Mirpur. The home side produced a strong all-round batting display marked by three century stands and two individual hundreds.
The day began with Mushfiqur Rahim completing a historic century in his 100th Test before falling for 106. Litton Das then took charge and continued his fluent innings after lunch. Resuming with Mehidy Hasan Miraz, the pair extended their partnership to 123 runs. Mehidy played with confidence and control before he was dismissed for 47.
Litton followed soon after. The right-hander, who had waited over a year for an international hundred, eventually departed for a superb 128 off 192 balls. His innings, filled with crisp strokes, anchored Bangladesh deep into the afternoon.
The Bangladesh innings featured three 100-run partnerships: between Mominul Haque and Mushfiqur Rahim, Mushfiqur and Litton, and Litton with Mehidy. These stands formed the backbone of the innings and kept Ireland’s bowlers under pressure throughout.
Andy McBrine was the standout for Ireland. After removing Hasan Murad, he completed his second five-wicket haul in Test cricket. He finished with impressive figures of 6 for 109, carrying the bulk of the workload on a surface offering little help.
Despite McBrine’s effort, Bangladesh stretched their total to 476 before being bowled out. The hosts ended the innings in a position of strength, setting up the contest on their terms as the Test moved forward.
